How much does an Olde English Bulldogge puppy actually cost?

The Bottom Line: Olde English Bulldogge puppies from Olde South Bulldogges start at $3500, paid as a $500 pick-of-the-litter deposit and a balance due at pickup. Prices across breeders vary by more than a thousand dollars, so what a price includes (registration papers, first vaccinations, a health record, a written agreement) matters as much as the number.

Search for “Olde English Bulldogge cost,” and you’ll find numbers anywhere from a few hundred dollars to $5,000, often on pages that blur two different breeds. The Olde English Bulldogge is a recreation of the Victorian-era working bulldog, built from the English Bulldog, Bullmastiff, American Bulldog, and American Pit Bull Terrier, so price guides written for the English Bulldog don’t apply. Our own bloodlines carry no American Pit Bull Terrier going back seven generations.

A puppy’s price only tells you something once you know what it includes and how it’s paid. This guide lays that out, using our own pricing, pick-of-the-litter deposit process, and purchase agreement as worked examples.

What is the average price for an Olde English Bulldogge puppy?

There’s no single reliable average price for an Olde English Bulldogge puppy because the figures published online come from listing sites and adoption platforms, and they vary widely. At Olde South Bulldogges, puppies start at $3,500, and that price does not include breeding rights.

The spread has real causes. Some listings are for puppies without registration papers, some include breeding rights, and some are really English Bulldog prices listed under a similar name.

If you’re holding our quote next to a $1,200 listing, the useful question is what each number buys. The rest of this guide answers that for our puppies, line by line, so you have a checklist to hold against any breeder’s price.

What does the purchase price include?

When your puppy goes home at 9 weeks, the price you’ve paid covers the paperwork and early care that come with the dog. Every puppy from Olde South Bulldogges leaves with:

  • International Olde English Bulldogge Association (IOEBA) registration papers
  • First immunizations
  • A health record listing every vaccine, deworming, and medication given
  • A signed purchase agreement

You can review our full purchase agreement before you send any money, and we’d encourage you to.

How does paying for your puppy work, step by step?

Most of our puppies are spoken for before they’re born, so the payment process starts well before a litter arrives. Here’s how the timeline runs from deposit to go-home day:

  1. Place a pick-of-the-litter deposit. Deposits are $500 for first through fourth pick and are applied to your puppy’s purchase price.
  2. Choose your puppy at 12 days. We send photos to deposit holders when the puppies are 12 days old. The family with first pick has 48 hours to choose, or the photos move to the family with second pick.
  3. Look for updated photos at 4 and 6 weeks. We photograph each litter again at both ages.
  4. Pay the balance at 9 weeks. Your puppy goes home between 9 and 10 weeks of age. We accept cash, money order, cashier’s check, or PayPal.

No deposit yet? Puppies not chosen by deposit holders go on the open market at 18 days old. We don’t hold puppies without a deposit.

Deposits are non-refundable, but you don’t lose your deposit if a litter doesn’t work out for you. We can apply it to any of our puppies for up to two years after we receive it.

What can add to your total?

Your total can stop at the base price or go higher, depending mostly on how your puppy gets home and whether you plan to breed. Your $500 deposit is credited toward the base price. Here’s how the extras break down:

Why does a well-bred Olde English Bulldogge cost what it does?

A price is easier to judge once you see the work that happens long before a litter is born. We select parents for correct structure, aiming for dogs that stand 16.5 to 18 inches at the withers, weigh 55 to 75 pounds, and carry a short, broad muzzle of 1.5 to 2 inches. We breed dogs that are free of skin, joint, and breathing problems, and we don’t breed any dog that shows an aggressive temperament. We run a panel of essential DNA tests on all our breeding males and females. All the dogs in our program do have the genetic predisposition for hereditary disorders such as Hyperuricosuria and Degenerative Myelopathy. Physical examinations by veterinary specialists are conducted on all our breeding dogs to eliminate the possibility of congenital heart defects and BOA syndrome.

That standard is expensive to keep. It means close working relationships with our veterinarians and no shortcuts on our dogs’ care. Our overview of Olde English Bulldogge health explains that approach in more detail.

The standard also means keeping puppies. We regularly hold back puppies from our litters to evaluate as future breeding prospects, so we can observe directly what each pairing produces. A puppy we keep for evaluation is a puppy we don’t sell, and the price of the puppies we do sell covers that cost.

Genetics adds another layer. A lilac tri puppy, for example, carries up to five pairs of recessive genes, and foundation dogs able to produce colors like that cost more to purchase or raise than dogs that don’t carry those genes. Our guide to choosing the right puppy explains how those color genetics work in our program.

What does a very low price usually mean?

If a listing comes in far below our price, the difference usually comes from what you can’t see in a photo. We’d be cautious about any Olde English Bulldogge puppy priced under $1,500, because many of those listings are scams or cut corners on health and care.

A low price isn’t proof of a problem, but it’s a reason to ask what’s missing. Before sending a deposit anywhere, ask to see:

  • Registration papers, and which registry issues them
  • A written purchase agreement you can read before paying
  • A health record that lists vaccines, deworming, and medications
  • Proof of what the breeder screens the parents for

A breeder who can show you all four has built them into the price. For a wider set of questions to ask, our guide on how to choose a reputable Olde English Bulldogge breeder goes beyond price.

Questions buyers ask once they’ve seen the price

Price questions tend to lead to policy questions about your pick, your puppy’s health after pickup, and breeding rights. Our Olde English Bulldogge FAQs cover the breed itself in more depth.

What happens if my vet finds a problem after pickup?

You can return your puppy for one of equivalent value if a licensed veterinarian certifies, within 14 days of delivery, that it’s unfit for purchase due to a noncongenital cause. Vet fees aren’t reimbursed, and parasites don’t qualify unless your puppy is clinically ill from them. South Carolina law (statute 47-13-160) gives puppy buyers more options when a vet finds a puppy unfit.

Will a breeder take a puppy back if it doesn’t work out?

We don’t take puppies back unless there’s a documented major medical issue. The warranties in our purchase agreement also end if you later sell the puppy to someone else. If you’re unsure, talk with us before placing a deposit.

Can I add breeding rights after buying a puppy?

You can purchase breeding rights for any of our puppies for an additional fee. Our purchase agreement doesn’t guarantee that a puppy will be able to produce offspring as an adult. If breeding is part of your plan, ask us for current terms before you choose.

Next steps: reserving a pick from an upcoming litter

If the numbers make sense for your family, the next step is choosing a litter. Our Olde English Bulldogge puppies for sale page lists current puppies and upcoming breedings, and families with a deposit hear about new litters before anyone else. When you’ve found the litter you want, you can place your $500 pick-of-the-litter deposit on our deposits and payments page, and we’ll contact you as soon as puppies are on the way.
